Feedback Loops Processor
Reads ISP spam complaints from your abuse mailboxes and unsubscribes the complainer straight away.
Licence and requirements
Every spam complaint a subscriber files against your IPs costs reputation. The Feedback Loops Processor reads the complaint reports that ISPs send to your abuse mailbox and unsubscribes the person immediately, before the next campaign makes things worse.
Features
- Reads standard ARF (Abuse Reporting Format) reports as well as plain feedback loop messages
- Several abuse mailboxes, over IMAP or POP3
- Runs from cron
- Moves complainers to the suppression list
- Exports complaints by email campaign or by contact list
Feedback loop programs
The processor has been used with the feedback loops of AOL, Bluetie/Excite, Comcast, Cox, Earthlink, Fastmail, Hotmail, OpenSRS/Tucows, Outblaze (mail.com), Rackspace, RoadRunner/Time Warner Cable, Synacor, Terra, Terra Brasil, USA.NET, United Online (Juno, NetZero), Yahoo! and Zoho.
An ARF report carries the complaint as a message/feedback-report part:
Feedback-Type: abuse
User-Agent: SomeGenerator/1.0
Version: 0.1
Original-Mail-From: <[email protected]>
Original-Rcpt-To: <[email protected]>
Source-IP: 10.67.41.167
Reported-Domain: example.net
Removal-Recipient: [email protected]
Questions
What do I need before complaints start arriving?
Your sending IPs must be registered with the major ISPs’ feedback loop programs (our support team can do this for you), and every campaign must include an unsubscribe link in its body or headers.
How do I schedule processing with cron?
0 * * * * /usr/bin/php /path/to/iem/admin/addons/fbl/api/process.php 100000
Why were fewer messages processed than the mailbox holds?
Reports for messages without an unsubscribe link are skipped, and so are reports about subscribers that no longer exist in Interspire.
